WHAT YOU FIND · WHAT COMES TO MIND

How to turn reading highlights into your own reflections

Add your response beneath a passage: what it reminds you of, where you agree or hesitate, or what you want to try. Keep the original words separate from your own.

From a passage to a thought

Passage: A trip doesn't have to fill every hour. My response: Next time, leave an afternoon for walking and see what I remember.

This is a writing example, not a quotation from a book.
01

Ask why the passage stayed with you

A sentence catches your attention and you save it. When you return, ask something of it: What experience does it remind me of? Where do I disagree? Is there one small thing I could try?

You don't need to respond to every highlight. One passage you think through can give you more to return to than pages of collected quotations.

02

Keep the source and your interpretation distinct

Keep the book title, article link or author when you know it. Leave unknown details unknown. Separate a direct quotation from a paraphrase and from your own response.

Part of the noteAn example
Passage or paraphraseA thought about the pace of travel
SourceThe actual book, article or link
My interpretationI rush because I'm afraid of missing the recommended places
Something to tryOne fewer stop, with more time to walk
03

Let the reflection change

Your first response does not have to be your final view. After another experience, add what you see differently. You can keep the earlier thought and still move beyond it.

Organize around what you expect to revisit. Several passages can belong in the same note when they help you develop one line of thought, rather than becoming isolated scraps.

04

Connect citations and reflections in Noppima

Keep material in the Inbox, then use the Inbox insertion tool in a Library note to add it as a citation. The reflection area beneath it gives your response a clear connection to the source and can hold several paragraphs.

You can continue with ordinary body text after the citation and reflection. Noppima keeps the necessary source snapshot; it does not automatically sync e-reader highlights, import whole ebooks or annotate PDFs. The source app still determines what material it can share.

Keep the passage, and the thought it leaves with you.
